About me, the
artist:
My name is Milena Wilson and I am
a resident of the State of Maryland. I began painting and selling
my artwork in 1993. However, the demands of full-time Federal
employment made it difficult for me to continue painting as I
wanted. Therefore, I stopped painting in 1997.
Since retiring from the
government, I have returned to what I deem a new career for the
rest of my life - Artist.
I am self-taught and receive
mentoring from my mother, who is also an artist. I use
instructional art materials and have attended art classes to
enhance my artistic skills.
The media I use to create my
art include oil, acrylic and watercolors. My style is realism and
genres include landscape, floral and figurative work.
My goal is to create art that will
first catch the viewer's eye, and then draw the viewer into the
painting. To enhance the light in my paintings, I exaggerate colors
and shadows.
While searching to find a style of
painting that is completely me, I find myself increasingly
drawn to painting skies. The vast and ever-changing beauty of our
sky is overwhelmingly fascinating and I thank God for giving "us
artists" this indescribable wonder as a subject.
I pray often that my Lord will
guide my hands as I transfer, with paint, the beauty of this world
and its inhabitants to the canvas. It's impossible to fully capture
the beauty of our world, but if I can capture just a minute
fraction of it, I will be eternally grateful.
